Date: Tue, 30 Mar 1999 21:40:41 -0700 To: spider From: Gordon Pegue Subject: 1999 Messier Marathon results The Albuquerque Astronomical Society held its Messier Marathon Saturday night March 20, 1999 at the society's General Nathan Twining Observatory approximately 60 miles SSW of Albuquerque, NM. We had about 40 observers and of those 40, 7 managed to last the night. Results are: Kevin McKeown 108 objects observed w/ a 3" refractor Gordon Pegue 108 objects observed w/ a 20" reflector Pete Eschman 107 objects observed w/ an 18" reflector Anna Whitlow 106 objects observed w/ a 10" reflector Mike Pendley 101 objects observed w/ a 22" reflector Alexander Comportie 97 objects observed w/ a 12" reflector Larry Cash 50 objects observed w/ a 10" SCT The first two folks were not able to recover M74 or M30. M74 because of wind and low clouds on the horizon and M30 because of advancing daylight.
