From: TDFLM Date: Tue, 22 Mar 2005 16:34:53 EST Subject: 2005 Marathon results To: spider Friday night kept us in our chiars and sent us to bed early because of the cloud coverage. But the Saturday night viewing from Kissimmee Prairie Perserve SP, Floirda was great. Sue Prill (8 inch dob, 13.8mm Meade wide field and 15mm, telrad finder), David Brown (12 inch dob, 20mm Nagler, 9X50 finder) and Patty Mayer (8 inch dob, 28 mm and 25mm, telrad finder) of the Treasure Coast Astronomical Society worked along side each other viewing each object. We were able to capture 52 when a very chilly Sue called it a night. David and Patty stayed bit longer and added another 6. It was our first attempt at a marathon and were pleased at the success we did have! We had a hard time with M102, but Sue finally found the elusive galaxy! We had 15 other club members joining us, but they were viewing and photographing other DSO's. The skies at KP are so wonderfully dark, the sky impressed many who had never been there before! On Saturday, the temperature got down to 41 and for Floridians, that is cold, but here's looking forward to next year.
